Abstract: |
The present paper aims at describing painting during the firts centuries of Christianity, when it was stil considered a ”religio illicita”. Artisic representations begin to follow strict rules inorder to fulfill their goal of transmitting a new and amazing message. Symbolism now replaces the intrest of having a masterpiece, spiritualization is the most important feature of this composition which, especially, in the period before ”The Peace with the Church” lays more emphasis on educating the viewer than on decorating space. |
