Abstract: |
The present paper deals with the problem of the French used by L. Tolstoy in “War and Peace”. It is an attempt to motivate the presence of a great number of French words used in the works of such a famous writer. The author comments on the linguistic contexts in which most French proper names, clichés and even whole dialogues are used. He also comments on the functions of French vocabulary used in the Russian text. |
